5 Beer Cocktails to Celebrate National Beer Day

by Waverly Wilde

Beer may be delicious on its own, but sometimes it’s nice to mix it up a little. Add a bit of excitement to your brew by making it a beer cocktail! Try out these 5 different beer cocktails just in time for National Beer Day on April 7!

1. Lemon Shandy

lemon beer drink

Let’s start off with a classic beer cocktail: the lemon shandy! This refreshing beverage is perfect for a warm spring day and only takes a moment to make. All you’ll need is one light beer, lemonade, and a sliced lemon. Fill half the cup with lemonade, the other half with beer, and top off with a lemon slice. Easy-peasy, lemon squeezy!

For tastiest results, be sure to keep your lemons refrigerated before starting!

2. Beer-garita

If you love a good margarita, here’s the perfect beer-margarita combo: the beer-garita! This recipe calls for a blender, but if you don’t have one, mixing this drink for a non-blended version should be A-OK.

With strong flavors from tequila, Squirt, lime, and your favorite Mexican beer, this beer cocktail will be your new go-to for when you’re laying out in the sun in your backyard.

3. Raspberry Vodka Beer

When you are all about sweet drinks, this one is the perfect beer cocktail to satisfy those taste buds. You’ll want to mix the lemonade and vodka ahead of time and keep the mixture chilled in the fridge before blending in the light beer. Then, add as many fresh raspberries to your concoction as you want and enjoy!

4. Honey Cider Beer

It doesn’t have to be fall time to enjoy this delightful apple cider beverage -- drink it any ol’ time you want! But be prepared to take a little time preparing this beer cocktail. You’ll need to combine the honey and cider together in a small saucepan and let it simmer so that the ingredients blend together well. Be sure to let it cool for a couple hours or overnight so that when you mix the rest of your ingredients (seltzer water, pale ale style beer, lemon juice, and apple slices), it’ll be nice and cold to the taste.

5.  Trojan Horse

dark beer

Last but not least, a simple yet refined beverage for all: the Trojan Horse (also called a Guinness and Coke). This stout beer cocktail includes only two ingredients which makes preparing it a joy after a hard day of work. Grab a dark, stout beer and a coca-cola from your beverage fridge, and pour equal parts into a glass. Take a sip, and enjoy the sweet cola carbonation mixed with the rich finish of the stout.
